Hello, and welcome!

Creatives By Samantha was created through real-life experience, motherhood, creativity, and the love I have for my children, especially my autistic son, who became the inspiration behind so much of what I create today.

It really began when we were preparing for a family trip to a theme park. At the time, one of my biggest fears was my son getting lost in a crowded place and not being able to tell people who he was, how to contact us, or explain that he was autistic and may need support.

We tried some of the options available for children with additional needs, such as lanyards and badges, but he didn’t like wearing them and would often take them off. So I started thinking, what is something he would actually keep on?

 

A T-shirt.

That’s when I created our first autism awareness shirts. My son’s shirt explained that he was unapologetically autistic, while the rest of us wore matching shirts identifying ourselves as his mum, dad, brother, or sister. We chose bright colours so that if we were ever separated in a busy place, people would easily recognise that we belonged together.

​

The response we received from people was overwhelming in the best way. Complete strangers would stop us to compliment the shirts, ask questions, or simply show kindness and understanding. That experience inspired me to keep creating.

​

A lot of the creativity you’ll see throughout this website has been inspired by my autistic son, from autism awareness apparel to train-inspired designs influenced by his love and passion for transport and trains.

​

But this website is also a reflection of me, my background, my culture, my family life, and the things I personally love and connect with. Some designs are inspired by my West Indian heritage, while others simply come from everyday moments, ideas, humour, interests, or creative thoughts that suddenly pop into my head.

​

A lot of the time, I’ll have an idea for something I wish existed. I’ll search for it, and if I can’t quite find what I’m imagining, I create it myself.

​

That same creativity also continued into our homeschooling journey. I struggled to find simple worksheets and educational resources that truly suited the way my son learned, without endless ads, subscriptions, hidden paywalls, or complicated downloads.

​

So once again, I started creating my own.

​

What began as handwritten activities and simple practice sheets at our kitchen table slowly turned into printable worksheets and learning resources for my son and eventually for all of my children.

​

Today, I share those resources here for other families, parents, teachers, and caregivers to use too, completely free, because I know firsthand how frustrating and expensive it can sometimes feel trying to find helpful resources for children.

Creatives By Samantha is simply a space where all of my creativity comes together, from educational resources and printables to apparel, stickers, and designs created with purpose, love, culture, humour, and real-life inspiration.

 

Most importantly, it’s a reflection of the journey that my son unknowingly inspired me to begin.

​
